Parents in South Carolina who are part of a nationwide revolt against Common Core say they are being threatened with criminal accountability if they prevent their children from taking the tests required by the controversial educational-standards program.
Tamra Hood, a member of South Carolina Parents Involved in Education, said the state Education Departments chief Operating officer, Elizabeth Carpentier, warned parents could spend 30 days in jail if even a single day of testing is missed, Breitbart News reported.
In addition, Hood said Carpentier warned that groups that encourage parents to refuse the Common Core-aligned tests could be charged with aiding and abetting a crime.
A memo from South Carolina state education Superintendent Molly Spearman to districts bluntly declared there is no statutory provision for parents to opt their children out of testing.

Actually, this is hilarious. Parents of school aged children can be both immovable objects and irresistible forces, and when they get upset, they have boundless energy to stir up trouble.
It’s all about money. The state pays a huge fee for each test taken (with appropriate fees and kickbacks to the education mob and political mob).

Idle threat for the gullible.
If they were to follow through, the sight of the first few parents being hauled off to jail going national would get a reaction that would make Baltimore look like kids play.

Just the next step in the liberal takeover of our education system. Anyone who resists is the enemy. I expect more issues like this to come up as our march toward increased fascism/communism increases.
One kink in the takeover occurred when it was reported that homeschooled children were more advanced educationally than their public school peers. Even colleges started wanting homeschooled students, as opposed to the shunning treatment that they got before this. After this, there was talk of outlawing homeschooling but that never took hold.
I think common core was the reaction to that, to try to make the claim that the old method of teaching is inferior and denigrate those using it. SAT scores should be a good indication of CC’s failure - unless the SAT tests are changed. CC also eliminates those pesky parents from being involved in their children’s education, since nobody in their right mind understands the common core methods.
