Why do you like wind? I have never seen that a windmill can even pay for itself for the energy used to produce the windmill.

I don't know why I like them. 35-40 years ago I saw the Boeing Mod 2 blade windmill in a brief article in Popular Science and I've liked them ever since.

I've read that energy payback is about 8 months.

If that's so, why are wind farms usually abandoned when their subsidy expires?

The fact is that wind power is economically feasible only in certain specific circumstances -- such as a residence located off the grid. It is incapable of being a major contributor to the grid.
