I’m sick of being told that I must love or hate an entire demographic minority based on a single characteristic. A liberal friend pointed out that T. E. Lawrence, a man I greatly admire, was most likely homosexual. I said that he may have been, but it wasn’t all that he was. They accuse of of being simplistic, but you cannot define humanity based upon sexual proclivities, skin pigmentation or cultural orientation. THAT is bigotry in its most fundamental form.
I agree that the sum of a person isn’t some single characteristic or preference. But anyone with any experience with gays has to realize that it’s a defect, a wrong pathway in the mind, an error in development.
However superb in their fields people like T. E. Lawrence were, that single defect damaged them and the people around them. In the end, this single defect causes the end of their genetic line. They are the dead branches on their family tree.
I am fine with people doing anything they want with anybody. It’s their business. I have two caveats, though. They cannot harm another unknowing or unconsenting person and they can’t damage society by twisting public opinion and legislation. If homosexuals are just living their lives and not engaging in activities to violate either of those conditions, then I have no objections.
