Sheriff Ross Mirkarimis conviction for grabbing and bruising his wifes arm, which nearly cost him his job and made him the first sheriff in San Francisco history to be legally barred from carrying a gun, was expunged from his record Monday.
Mirkarimi had petitioned to clear his record, a common request in misdemeanor cases but one that held symbolic impact for a politician whose career was marred by the highly-publicized scandal. Mirkarimi was absent from Mondays hearing at the Hall of Justice, where San Francisco Superior Court Judge Tracie Brown granted the petition. The sheriffs attorney, Betsy Wolkin, had argued in court records that he had successfully complied with all the terms and conditions of his three-year probation that expired March 19.
Outside court, Wolkin portrayed the motion as a routine but important feature of the criminal justice system.
I can only speak in a general sense that its always something Im grateful for, to be able to appear with people in court who are able to be afforded this kind of relief, the attorney said. Its really a cornerstone of restorative justice. Its something that I believe in, the people in San Francisco believe in, the district attorney believes in and I think Sheriff Mirkarimi believes in. For him, its really personal. Its the relief hes entitled to.
Wolkin added, As you can see, hes not here. Hes not creating a story here.

His wife has been oddly quiet these last few years..
Isn’t she doing a play about it?
Laws are for the little people, not for Democrat politicians.
Yep! The rulers do as they please. The serfs do as the rulers say. But that is what we, as a Nation have sunk to now. All the law is for now is controlling the slaves so they keep the tax money rolling in to support the royalty in the manner they expect.
Wow! Newspaper of the future! It is not April 27 in San Francisco, so how could this have happened?
In your heart of hearts, do you actually believe that Joe Lunchbucket or GI Joe Veteran would be afforded the same treatment, To wit: Having their record expunged in order that they may possess a firearm if they had run afoul of the law under the same circumstances?
And then they rewrite history.

So, he gets his gun rights back? Rather ironic for an anti-gun official from an anti-gun jurisdiction.
Maybe with a commensurate expenditure on legal costs to push the petition through... it’s funny how liberals complain about how justice is for sale when the poor see its harsh end for lack of representation and then quite overlook situations like this.
The wife of the San Francisco county sheriff is a Venezuelan soap opera actress. You can’t make up stuff like this.
