An adventuresome Google executive who once dated TV star Sophia Bush met a harrowing death on Mount Everest in a a series of valanches triggered by Saturdays giant earthquake.
Dan Fredinburg, of San Francisco, was the only American confirmed by Saturday night to have died in the tragedy.
He died from head injuries when the avalanche slammed into his base camp, according to family members and a statement from Jagged Globe, the mountaineering company that organized his summit attempt.
Today I, and so many of my loved ones, lost an incredible friend, said Bush, who starred from 2003 to 2012 in The CW network show One Tree Hill.
Feinberg also helped start Save the Ice, an organization dedicated to raising awareness about global warming through adventurous campaigns and events around the world, according to its website.

Fredinburg was also on Everest in April 2014, when an avalanche killed 16 Sherpa guides. After that disaster, Sherpas refused to aid any further expeditions on the mountain, forcing the cancellation of the years climbs. In an Instagram post, Fredinburg blamed the cancellation on militant Sherpas and used the hashtag #poorformguys. Looks like the Sherpas had the realistic view on the dangers of Everest. More so than the Google genius.

“The popular song is that Marines gave their lives for our freedom, but with the general adventurism of recent decades that has been vitiated. Does this translate into an imperative to try to colonize the whole world by perpetual police action?”
What are you talking about? Be careful, good buddy, because you’re about to lose a whole bunch of respect.
To: sergeantdave
Well if it is for failure to perpetuate a myth, maybe I never needed the respect? The veneration for Marines can get downright blasphemous towards God at times.
What Christ did on the cross beats out any Marine.

That is not BS, I am sober and in my right mind.
What’s this crap about heaven’s scenes and US Marines? Tell ME, please.

Traagic end to a young life.
That said - the writer/editor/PROOFREADER in me cringes again: “in a a series of valanches triggered...”
I wonder if many papers even HAVE a copywriter or proofreader any more?
My paper went without one for 2-3 years - until they finally figured out ‘spell-check’ doesn’t always cover it.

Sounds like a lot of foreign nationals were killed at the Everest Base Camp. News is still just trickling out.

OK...two questions:
1. Was this joker's name Fredinburg or Feinberg?
2. Whatever his name might have been...do you suppose he really feels like a threat to the planet now?
I'm guessing he doesn't.

“valanches”.... Wow, a Google guy dies from a word that’s not even listed in Google.
“dedicated to raising awareness about global warming “.... I’d say this guy really got into his work.
Ok, I get it, global warming causes “valanches”.
We’re all going to die from “valanches”.
