“Say goodbye to the Rangers as an elite fighting force.”
Ranger School is a regular Army training school (TRADOC) that teaches leadership and small unit tactics. It is not part of the 75th Ranger Rgt.
The 75th Ranger Regiment makes Army Rangers, not the Ranger School.
Yes and no. I understand what you are saying, but If you enlist for the Regiment, you have an enlistment obligation to to complete both the Basic Airborne Course prior to arrival at your assigned Ranger unit and successfully complete the Ranger Course at some point during your initial enlistment. The Ranger Course, in that regard, is designed to weed out Rangers who aren't up to the task of what being in the Regiment entails. Yes, the three battalions in the Regiment train to a higher standard and OPTEMPO than other infantry units as part of SOCOM, but the Ranger Course is their training foundation and gatekeeper. Virtually all of the Doctrinal Principles and TTPs and taught in the Ranger Course are embedded in the way the Ranger Regiment trains and fights.
