The people you mention don't have quite the political influence that the sodomy lobby has. Their behavior to date shows me that they will try to force compliance as soon as they think they can.

I have no doubt that they will try. They will certainly try (and have obviously already tried) to force businesses and private individuals to go along with same-sex marriages. But forcing clergy to perform a religious ritual against their will is, I believe, a line that no court, not even the most liberal courts in the country, will cross.

Short of forcing clergy to perform weddings, there are a lot of other ways social and governmental pressure can be brought to bear on churches. I think that’s what we’ll see first.
