If Hillary! wins the nomination and loses the election, Warren immediately becomes the frontrunner for the 2020 Dem nomination. If she wants to run in 2016, she is probably thinking in terms of 1968, letting O'Malley play the Eugene McCarthy role, and the moment Hillary! withdraws from the race, coming in the way RFK did in '68 and taking over both the far-left vote and the nomination.

The only fly in the ointment would be that if Hillary! is on the verge of losing the nomination again--not to O'Malley, a straight white male will never get the Dem nomination again, but losing it to a firestorm of criticism--I would not put it passed (or past) her to order Warren's assassination, so that Hillary! can then step in as the Mourner in Chief and get the nomination.
