Being a fighter pilot, in general, sounds like a sweet gig on the surface. You fly in fast jets, and you get to wear sunglasses a lot. But to the 100 Saudi fighter pilots bombing Houthi rebels in Yemen right now, it just got better. Saudi prince Al-Waleed bin Talal promised each and every one of them a Bentley.
Oddly enough, bin Talal deleted the tweet shortly after, but I think the offer still stands.
In case your Arabic is a little rusty, the original reads:
I congratulate your success of Operation Decisive Storm and the start of Operation Restore Hope. In appreciation of the 100 Saudi pilots which carried this out I will be gifting them 100 Bentley cars. In case youre doubting the capability of the Prince to gift 100 Bentleys, dont doubt for too long. Not only is he a member of the Saudi royal family, and founder, CEO, and 95% owner of the Kingdom Holding Company conglomerate, if you merely speculate that he is not-quite-as-rich-as-he-claims-but-still-filthy-filthy-rich, hell try to sue the pants off you.
So lets just assume hes got the money for it. Oh, and hes also got a golden throne which sits in the middle of his private Boeing 747. And hes a major shareholder in News Corporation, which owns Fox News. So theres that.
Saudi Arabia said it finished its airstrikes as of yesterday, though it reserves the right to keep them going. As of now, it says its choosing to focus on the political process.
And in case youre just now catching up to whats going on in Yemen, Iran-backed rebels known as Houthis have been steadily marching across the country, taking over government installations, killing people, and generally stirring up trouble, all while chanting their slogan,Death to America, death to Israel, damnation to the Jews.
Seriously, thats their slogan. Catchy.
Of course, this being the Middle East, its a whole lot more complicated than a strict Good-versus-Evil narrative. But for the time being, just know that Saudi Arabia considers the Houthis a destabilizing threat, the US may be considering a blockade, and that an estimated 150,000 people have been displaced by the fighting, with over 700 dead.
But hey, at least these guys are getting a Bentley out of the whole thing. So theres that.

I’d take a used PT Cruiser at this point.
when I first saw the ads for the PT cruiser they looked like full size trucks, and I was so hyped.....
oh well
That no booze thing over there, now. That might be a show stopper. That and no bacon?
A new Bently is a better performance bonus than I’ve ever got. Ha! I’ll settle for a corvette. Where do I sign up?
Shoot....count me in....I could sell it and pay off my house.
And he could not only fly...he took them out.
(fictional)
Uncle Dolphie would be proud of em!
Really? If so, what got them interested?
We owned two PT Cruisers at the same time. Bought the first one the first week they came out. Could have made a killing on Ebay at the time.
My Wife loved hers. Drove it almost 100,000 Miles before we decided to sell it.
Had an accident with mine at 75,000 Miles. Great Cars if you like only having 150 HP under the Hood.
Now back to the Bentley Thread. LOL
I saw 2 chevy trucks so far this year that looked so retro with a cab flat back and an old style grill. have to be custome jobs, not sure who is doing them, but they do look cook, as much as I hate GM at this point.
but further impressed with the mileage you got out of those PT’s
A wealthy Saudi royal attracted criticism on social media after he apparently offered luxury cars to fighter pilots participating in a bombing campaign in Yemen.
Earlier this week Saudi Arabia announced the end of the first phase of its military campaign in Yemen. And in a celebratory gesture Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, one of the country’s richest men and a member of the Saudi royal family, tweeted to his 3m followers on Twitter: “In appreciation of their role in this operation, I’m honoured to offer 100 Bentley cars to the 100 Saudi [fighter] pilots”.

Wish we could do that.
The end of the world.
Given how the average Saudi drives, the pilots have a greater chance of being killed on the highway than bombing Yemen.
My Wife’s PT, the one we got when they first came out never had a problem. Hers and mine were both the Limited Models.
The one I bought a few Months later was great. I had customized it with a PTeazer Package, full Front Grill, Rear Roll Pan and had a custom louvered Hood. It was Black and I added the Factory Body Kit. Coolest looking PT out there. Even had a an 8 Ball Shifter...
At about 60,000 Miles I noticed it started using a lot of Oil. My Wife’s never used a drop, same Engine. Took it to the Dealer and they couldn’t figure it out. Next thing I know, they call me and say they are replacing the Engine under Warranty. I never even suggested it, they did.
The gave me a free Loaner Car and had it done it ten days.
Best Customer Service I could ever ask for.
Today I drive a 2015 Dodge Challenger. Moving on up. LOL
Certainly seem to be heading towards the End of Age with all this stuff. Good work; keep up the evangelizing.
