Authorities at Fort Benning, the U.S. Army post in west Georgia, say they're dealing with an ongoing "emergency situation" at the post's Warrior Transition Battalion.
Fort Benning officials said Wednesday afternoon on the base's official Facebook account and on Twitter that officials have secured the area and that personnel were safety evacuated as a precaution. Officials at the scene have determined that there is no longer a threat to anyone on base, according to a Facebook post.
Base officials said in the social media posts that children in a child development center were safe but were being moved to another site due the emergency.

Wow. Nothing like too much information.
I can’t find any info out there. Will keep looking.
The only way to make sense of this ‘report’ is to think about which details have been left out, then try to back engineer into reconstructing the actual event. There should be a fuller report later, after they’ve determined ‘absolutely no signs of terrorism here’.
Please do! ISIS is targeting our bases and our soldiers can’t carry weapons.
It appears that some ebola rumors were circulating around Columbus today. That may be what started this kerfuffle.
This may be nothing, but why would anyone expect the government/media to be forthcoming with the information if it were an attack of some kind, especially one that resulted from our border security non-policies.
UPDATE: The emergency situation at the Fort Benning WTB is close to a resolution. The details of the situation are as follows: A Soldier who asked for help with a battery jump, mis-identified part of the electrical system within the assisting person's vehicle.Due to the Soldier's concern for the safety of personnel in the area, he alerted emergency officials to what he felt to be a threat. Officials on scene have determined the situation is not a threat to personnel in the area and are completing their final checks. We will let you know when the area is officially cleared.
Did someone get the wires crossed when they jumpered the battery?!?
Crossed his jumper cables? Melted down a Prius? Nobody’s gonna confess to that.
So, some kid got the polarity backwards while hooking up two high amperage 12v batteries and blew one of them up. Hope he wasn’t too near it.
I’m thinking that causing an “emergency situation” at the home of the Infantry training / Airborne school / Ranger training school .... might be a bad idea.
Not when all the ordinance is under lock and key except on range day.
Maybe there was a rumor that Hillary was planning to visit.
You're right - the Fox News story was nothing like too much information.
If the rumored visit was preceded by her eating at a Chipotle's, I can see how that could create an "emergency situation" for the base.
Hmmm... Is it red to red or red to black?
Let’s see which one works!
So much for his career in EOD.
Emergency? They out of nail polish that matches red patent leather pumps?
Red nail polish is soooo yesterday.
