Personally, I would award that appellation to Braum's. They maintain a slightly higher butterfat content than Blue Bell. It's intentional -- they recognize Blue Bell as the second best ice cream in the world.
It is second best and Braum’s is my last stop headed south. Even the Bad of Burgers can’t be beat. Five burgers, dry with lettuce and tomato, a black walnut malt, a big bag of cheese for the freezer, muffins for breakfast and I’m on the road again.
They won’t distribute more than a day’s truck run from Tuttle even if I promised I’d be their best customer ever.
Blue Bell is second best it is true but it is a good enough second best.
