How many DC-10s were grounded after that United Flight lost its center engine and crashlanded at Sioux City, Iowa? Answer: absolutely none. How many MD-11s were grounded after that Swissair flight went down off Canada in 1998? Answer: absolutely none. How many 767s were grounded when that Lauda Air flight broke up over Malaysia? Answer: absolutely none. How many A320s were grounded after that Indonesian Air filght went down in December? Answer: absolutely none.

They don't ground airplanes. Not without specific reason.

But they did say they had a specific reason, a short in the fuel tank. They even recall automobiles when they have a specific reason that causes them to crash or endanger its occupants.
