Cutting doctors salaries was never in the cards.

Sure it is, when the political numbers allow.

Congress had zero problem gutting our military through Sequestration, and by default, laying off the military doctors, nurses, and medical professionals that care for our combat wounded and military families. Almost 70% of military doctors and nurses DoD-wide took a 20% pay cut for months, and many of them quit in disgust).

Our government even furloughed those at Walter Reed who looked after the most seriously injured of our combat wounded.

That furlough happened.

But our politicians fear the Medicare crowd, so we now will spend Tens and Hundreds of Billions that everyone around here says we don't have.

You could always head up one of those Death Panels and make sure that Medicare Seniors don’t get too much medical care. You’ll get rid of them a lot quicker that way ... :-) ...
