In "When a Man Loves a Woman" the truest lines you'll ever hear:
"Lovin' eyes can never see."

THe music comming out of "Muscle Shoals" represented local white musicians working with black singers and musicians is legendary (R&B, Blues,Rock ).
Fame Studio:Aretha Franklin, Bono, Alicia Keys, Steve Winwood, Gregg Allman, Clarence Carter, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Jimmy Cliff, Percy Sledge, Wilson Pickett, and more.
It was ,..and is , all about the music !

Reminds me of the scene in “The Commitments” when one of the member who is devoutly Catholic goes to the Confessional and tells the priest that he no longer sings hymns but “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Marvin Gaye.
The Priest corrects him and points out that Percy Sledge was the one who sang it, and says to him ‘I have the album.’

May Percy RIP.
I loved his talent. “When a Man Loves a Woman” remains one of my favorites. Little did he know at the time just how much of a relic that concept would become.
Today it could be, ‘When a Man Loves a Man’, or ‘When a Woman Loves a Woman’... and on and on.
Now that I am 66. death at 73 sounds so young.

I am such a fan of "The Commitments." Have watched it so many times. Did you know that one of the girls in the band played by Maria Doyle Kennedy also played John Bates' estranged wife in Downton Abbey?
