I disagree with “turn the other cheek”...and I am a Christian. One of the biggest problems with Christians is that the preachers are trying to awake us and we still sleep. IF WE KNEW GOD’S WORD and studied THE BIBLE we’d know that we must be strong in the Lord, be bold.
Trouble is we’ve let our sins mount without forgiveness and wear our sin as a crutch vs. know they are forgiven. We also try to sneak around such things as IRS to hide moneys we make on the side, pay our illegal maids and landscapers with cash, avoid carrying our share, etc. so we’ve done this to ourselves. By the way, we ARE TO JUDGE...but judge by pointing to The Bible and ask that person about their decision per this or that verse.
NOW, know that I am trying to be bolder and stronger as I cannot yet point to the verses without google!!
Bible Study and daily devotionals help everyone.
God Bless America (IIChronicles7:14)...can be done!!
I am astounded repeatedly how misunderstood are our own scriptures and how we allow them to be turned against us. When He said turn the other cheek he was saying that after you have been demeaned by the slapping of your right cheek with the back of the hand as one would do a slave, turn the left cheek for a blow from the palm. As one would do to an equal, a challenge to a contest between peers. FORCE THEM TO DEAL WITH YOU AS PEERS EVEN IF IT MEANS A BRIEF HUMILIATION. In the end you win because they will not want to elevate you to peer status but your passive defiance humiliates them. This is the true meaning of turn the other cheek. Not the “be a doormat” for thugs that one hears too often.
