While addressing some 4,000 NRA members on Friday, Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican now running for the White House, challenged other Republicans running for office to prove they "bled" standing for principle while fighting Barack Obama, the Washington Examiner reported Saturday. Cruz, Pau Bedard said, mocked candidates in past primaries for being all talk but no action.
"There are a lot of good men and women thinking about running in 2016 and we've been around the block before," Cruz said in a teleprompter-free speech that lasted nearly 20 minutes. "We understand that in a Republican primary and everyone stands up and says, 'Gosh diddley, I'm the most conservative guy who ever lived.'"
But, Cruz added, "somehow actions don't always seem to follow those words." Now, he said, voters need to challenge primary contenders and dare them to "show their wounds," so to speak.
"For far too long politicians have said one thing and done another," he said. "Everyone of us should ask any candidate that shows up in front of you, 'You say you believe these principles, show me. When have you stood up and fought for them, when have you bled for them, and what have you accomplished?'"
"You know," Cruz added, "I had a former boss who used to say, 'If I'm ever accused of being a Christian, I'd like there to be enough evidence to convict me.'" He went on to say the same should apply to conservatives seeking office.
"The same is true of being a conservative," he said. "In a Republican primary every candidate is going to stand up and say, 'I oppose Obamacare.' The question we ought to ask is, 'Great, when have you stood up and fought to stop Obamacare!' And every candidate is going to say they

Rand Paul criticized Ted Cruz for that “filibuster” and said he wasn’t really a participant.
Keep it up. You are so far succeeding in damaging the cause of he who apparently you are not allowed to mention and are causing little negativity toward the one who is the topic of this thread.
You see, many FReepers here are FOR Ted Cruz...not against anyone in particular. There really is a difference you seem unwilling or unable to admit.
I was disappointed but not surprised. Paul only showed up once during Cruz's filibuster, whereas Cruz made multiple statements to rest Paul during his filibuster.
Stopping Obama’s attack on the Second Amendment is not an accomplishment? Winning landmark decisions before the Supreme Court is not an accomplishment? Introducing and getting passed legislation that forced the Obama adminsitration to acknowledge the Ft. Hood attack as terrrorism and award the victims Purple Hearts is not an accomplishment? He took a stand against Obamacare when other gutless Senators refused to. Cruz has sponsored at least two other bills that were passed in the Senate, aSenate that Harry Reid shut down.
Walker would have accomplished nothing without a Republican legislature, but he always takes all the credit.
How so? All of the potential GOP candidates, except Carson, have excellent records on RKBA issues.
While I like Cruz, his comment doesn't make any sense. The only people who "bled" fighting Obama on gun control were Democrats who wouldn't let his proposals get through the Senate.
Ted will text you updates every few weeks. Nothing brightens my day like seeing his text pop up!
Hmmm.. Interesting.
I loved his speech. His, and Sheriff Clarke’s.
I’m not a big fan of getting loads of texts, but I think I’ll sign up for Cruz’s.
Thanks.
You’ll get one or less per month. I wish he’d text more!
That’s a different issue. I was merely pointing out an inaccuracy.
Rand Paul DOES call it “Radical Islamic Terrorism.”
Rand Paul and Ted Cruz are friendly. The campaign is bound to strain this, but I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see the one endorse the other if the time comes. It’s a bit early for their respective supporters to tear into each other.
You call me fan girl when you have to wipe your mouth after drooling over Cruz. Please grow up. I imagine that is impossible for you.
Fangirl.

That is all that matters to me. You are going to commit suicide when Walker wins. lol.
I have nothing against Walker. He happens to be my second choice. It is the mindless fangirls like you that I loath.
Keep lying. One day you wonder what happened when President Walker is sworn in. Just don’t get into a fetal position over it. America will be fine with or without your support.
Too bad. I don’t get where you are calling me a transvestite for some reason which is really weird. I don’t call you derogatory names. Aren’t you like 60 or something and you are still acting like you are in grade school. Are you that weak that you can’t have a decent debate without name calling. No wonder Cruz is not going to win with supporters like you.
You behave like a fangirl. And Walker is still a small stage success.
Conserve your energy, FRiend.
And you behave like an infant. God I can’t wait for the day that you are........
Their ideologies are not even similar as far as I can tell. I think Cruz would more likely endorse Walker.
