EIN GEDI, IsraelTen years ago, during a routine early-morning solo tour of the area surrounding his kibbutz, Ein Gedi, on the shores of the Dead Sea, geographer-geologist Eli Raz heard an ominous rumbling noise. Raz, who is widely considered Israels foremost expert on sinkholesthose terrifying crater-like holes that open up without warningimmediately knew that he was about to be swallowed up.
Sitting in his windowless, cramped office on the kibbutz, Raz, 70, a wiry, sun-wizened man with thick silver hair, tells his tale calmly. I fell in, tumbling down, deeper, deeper. I thought Id be buried alive. Instinctively, I started to dig upward, and realized that I was luckynot much earth had fallen in, and I had landed on a sort of ledge. I could breathe. As the dust settled, I could see the sunlight at the top. But climbing out wasnt an optionI was afraid the hole would collapse on top of me. I was even afraid to move.
I realized that I had my pack with mea camera, a flashlight, a pen, a piece of paper, and toilet paper. I didnt have water. I had my cellphone, too, but it doesnt work from deep inside the earth, he adds. He was confident that the kibbutz rescue teamwhich he had established and trainedwould eventually realize that he was missing and come rescue him. Meanwhile, Raz, ever the industrious scientist, began taking photographs. After all, he quips, how many times do we get an opportunity to take pictures of a sinkhole from inside?

Ezekiel 47:1 Afterward he brought me again unto the door of the house; and, behold, waters issued out from under the threshold of the house eastward: for the forefront of the house stood toward the east, and the waters came down from under from the right side of the house, at the south side of the altar. 2 Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side. 3 And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. 4 Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through ; the waters were to the loins. 5 Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over : for the waters were risen , waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over . 6 And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river. 7 Now when I had returned , behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. 8 Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed . 9 And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth , whithersoever the rivers shall come , shall live : and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed ; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh . 10 And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many. 11 But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof sha
Could that prophecy of Ezekiel be a Christological prophecy? I.e., it’s already been fulfilled?
Ezekiel prophesizes the Dead Sea will again become a body of water capable of sustaining life.
It may come in our time.
Time to visit israel and the Dead Sea before they turn it into just another Lake Tahoe. Ha!
The Israelis could build enough desalination plants to the point of not having to use the Kinneret (aka the Galilee) as a water source except as a backup. This would allow them to allow more water to flow into the Dead Sea.
And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south Zechariah 14:4.
Any reference to biblical sink holes in Florida?
One of the features of Ezekiel’s prophecy is that he names actual places where kingdom promises will be physically fulfilled in tangible ways. Given that the events and places of Ezekiel have not come to do as prophesied, we still anticipate their fulfillment.
It’s not the flow in. There is no outflow.
Explain.
Salt lakes or seas are caused when there is a flow of water into a basin. The salt occurs when the flow out of the basin doesn’t exist or it gets cut off. The water evaporates and the salt is concentrated in the water.
“Its not the flow in. There is no outflow.”
There’s not enough in flow. That’s the problem.
Harry Reid is so old that he remembers when the Dead Sea was merely sick.......
There could be a mississippi river coming in.
If the water doesn’t leave, over centuries it would turn to salt. Inflow can dilute it, but without an escape the salts in the water concentrate.
