could a judge simply refuse to hear such a claim?
were paying these guys good money...and we dont want them burdened with utter nonsense week n and week out...

The court could throw it out at any level if it becomes clear that
it's a frivolous suit. A hearing would determine that and would most
likely be one of the steps. They get no 5th amendment rights to
be silent in a hearing.
This is NY, so anything can happen and their procedure is strict. we'll see.
