Jenny Wallenda, 87, the matriarch of the famous family of high-flying circus performers, died late Saturday at her home in Sarasota, Florida, according to family members.
Wallenda's nephew, Rick Wallenda, said his aunt died following a lengthy illness.
"She had a great life in entertainment, a very rewarding and rich life," he said.
Wallenda was the oldest daughter of high wire walker Karl Wallenda and grandmother of daredevil performer Nik Wallenda.

RIP.
Glad to hear she didn’t die from a fall and broken hip.
That certainly would have been ironic.
i will always think of Lloyd Bridges when this family is mentioned... he played the Great Wallenda in the television movie...
I’d call a Wallenda dying of old age at home in bed with no injuries a blazing success.
IIRC, Grandma was still making the special footware Nik used to walk on wires, at least I think she still was for the Niagara and Grand Canyon walks. I hope she taught someone else in the family.
Life is a high wire act.
He lived it...
“She lived it...”

I’m nearly 62 and I remember Lloyd as Mike Nelson in Sea Hunt, loved that show and watch it wherever I find it.
We used to call it “Search for the Sea”.
