I don’t want to rag on Netanyahu, but he’s a wimp compared to past Israeli leaders. Begin did not ask for Reagan’s permission - he struck Osirak, and that was that. Netanyahu’s Hamlet-like indecision has given Iran the time it needed to get its nuclear program going. It seems Bibi was more interested in milking the Iranian nuclear program for domestic political points than in actually striking it. Thanks to his lollylagging, the Iranians are now on the verge of a nuclear weapon. Begin understood that even under Reagan, the US was not to be trusted on matters of mortal import to Israel. It’s incomprehensible that Bibi has wasted so much time talking when the time for action was yesterday.
I'm not disagreeing with you overall, but there have been a number of actions taken. Some of the public ones have included the untimely demise of a number of senior technical and administrative managers of the Iranian nuclear program, as well as the total destruction of a nuclear research reactor in Syria.
I assume there are a number of other actions taken that neither side wants make public for any of a number of reasons.
