I guess for this confirmation, Kirk was the designated RINO vote to approve the nominee. McConnell passes around this responsibility to whoever is most able to do it.
Whenever you need to stand united and firm, you can always find a RINO vote to help out your brother democrat.
I think Kirk got a promise that for the 2016 Democratic opponent against him....it’ll be a 2nd tier person (anyone but Duckworth).
