To give a little context to his statement, here is his original “detail” statement from 1987:
“I ask myself several questions. I’m not saying the gas chambers didn’t exist. I haven’t seen them myself. I haven’t particularly studied the question. But I believe it’s just a detail in the history of World War II.”
In that context, it’s clear that he was bordering on Holocaust denial. He is saying, essentially, that he’s not sure whether the Holocaust happened, but hasn’t paid much attention to the “question” because it’s “just a detail” (e.g., not a big deal).
Pretty bad stuff.
Bombing Pearl Habor was a detail too, I guess, so was bombing Hiroshima. lol
Yeah the Holocaust "only" accounted for 6 million.
So he's technically correct, but make no mistake, he meant that the "detail" of the Holocaust isn't that important to him.
It's pretty obvious that he is either an anti-Semite, or not quite a Holocaust denier, but at least a Holocaust minimizer.
Either way, a stupid statement for anyone to make out of the blue.
