The Maricopa County attorney is coming under fire for calling a veteran an "enemy" during a debate-- and he's not backing down from his words.
This all unfolded at a debate over legalizing marijuana last week hosted by the Tempe Republican Women.
Bill Montgomery told a veteran he had no respect for him after the vet asked for a meeting to discuss how medical marijuana has improved his life.
"With all due respect sir, your name calling, 'potheads' offends me, said Don Ream during a Q & A portion of the debate.
Ream is a Vietnam veteran. He's been a medical marijuana patient for several years, and he told Montgomery he'd like to "educate him" on recreational use.
Montgomery argued against legalizing the drug in Arizona. Its an issue that could come up on the November ballot in 2016.
When Ream admitted to smoking recreationally, Montgomery responded:
"I have no respect for you, for someone that tried to claim you served this country and took an oath to uphold the constitution and defend against all enemies foreign and domestic because you're an enemy, he said.
The crowd booed back to him.
After the debate, Montgomery released this statement:
"Is [ream] an enemy like ISIS or Al Qaeda? Of course not. But if he or any other vet is going to use their status as a veteran to encourage people to break the law, then that does make them an enemy of our constitution and our laws and that is a sad commentary on where we are at."
Montgomery is a veteran himself. He's a West Point graduate who served in the Gulf War.
ABC15 wasnt able to get a hold of Don Reams for a comment.
I smoke pot nearly every day for chronic leg pain caused by a pinched nerve in my back. The only other alternative is surgery, and I’m forestalling that for as long as I possibly can. I was on prescribed narcotics for about three months and absolutely hated the side effects (I woke up every single morning of my life feeling hungover), and my doc “off the record” suggested I try pot. It’s a godsend. If people have a problem with that, it’s their problem, not mine.
If the enumerated powers do not define the boundaries of laws and regulations Congress can enact, then the Tenth Amendment is meaningless. There would be powers reserved to the States or the People.
Yes it is, now what?
The Constitution guarantees the States a republican form of government. If the Tenth Amendment is void, then there is no republic and that guaranteed has not been honored. The contract is broken, and Congress has no legitimate authority at all.
Suppose Congress passes an anti-gun law. Will you roll over for Second Amendment violations as easily as you roll over for violations of the Tenth Amendment?
They may have no authority but they do have a fair amount of Power and a tyrant that is willing to use it.
The Constitution is about as useful as an order of protection against an abusive husband intent on murder, the wife can wave it in his face while he chokes the life out of her. Maybe she should have a gun permit to wave instead.
Or a friend or neighbor who tells her "You took vows for better or worse. Did you forget that part?"
I see. How about even one example?
You need an example for the lie you are currently telling? I see.
I'm gonna ignore you now.
I'm gonna ignore you now
Oh, do you mean my saying you make up stats & then refuse to provide evidence or citations for them when called out on it?
It's all right here - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3261417/posts?page=20#20
You remember, don't you? It's when you said the War on Drugs is a success because of 2% usage in the U.S.
I've asked repeatedly for a cite to that figure but you refuse. I think we all know why.
Yet, you have the gall to call other poster liars.
Don't worry. I'll be around to remind you again.
Or a neighbor that makes it better before it gets worse. In your logic I guess dead is better.
Don't buy any lottery tickets today.

That was a quick change of argument: from the-Constitution-authorizes-the-Drug-War to the-Constitution's-nonauthorization-of-the-Drug-War-is-ineffectual.
Maybe she should have a gun permit to wave instead.
If a future presidential administration tries to revoke the detente with legalizing states, I hope those states are willing to use their guns.
When the end is justifying the means, the means don't have to make sense.
<yawn> Another day, another sourceless citeless claim from DiogenesLamp - who seems to think he's entitled to not only his own opinion but also his own 'facts.'
Like lung cancer?
Next upsnorting "medical" cocaine...
From http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/marijuana-medicine:
THC increases appetite and reduces nausea.
THC may also decrease pain, inflammation (swelling and redness), and muscle control problems.
recent animal studies have shown that marijuana can kill certain cancer cells and reduce the size of others. Evidence from one animal study suggests that extracts from whole-plant marijuana can shrink one of the most serious types of brain tumors.
The DEA has put cocaine on Schedule II, meaning that it does have medical value: http://www.dea.gov/druginfo/ds.shtml

It was pointless to continue with your argument so I just negated the constitutional argument for you. No Constitution, bill of Rights, law or regulation can protect you from a lawless government as this administration demonstrates quite well.
The Constitution has been abused all my life but soon it will begin to really matter then this dance will be over because it will require a king to undo this mess.
1Sa 8:5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
1Sa 8:6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.
1Sa 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.
1Sa 8:18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.
