At least 21 people were hurt, two of them seriously, on Saturday when a Los Angeles commuter train struck a car that was crossing the tracks and derailed into a street near the University of Southern California campus.
A silver Hyundai Sonata was left crumpled and unrecognizable following the collision, according to a Reuters witness. The lead train car jumped the tracks, crashing through a metal fence and across a grass-covered median before coming to rest in the middle of Exposition Boulevard.
One person on the Metrolink train suffered serious injuries, the Los Angeles Fire Department said, and a person extricated from the car was in critical condition.

It was not a Metrolink commuter train. It was a light rail vehicle, i.e., a souped-up trolley, on the Expo Line.
Some journalists are too lazy to do simple research.

See, if they just had listened...

The maximum speed for that particular brand of light rail car is 60 mph, and there are only a few places on the line where it can get up to that speed. I don’t think that place was one of them.

"Then how did they know it was a Hyundai Sonata?"Maybe the "Reuters witness"whatever that meansnoticed the make and model logo on a piece of the crumpled and unrecognizable car.

From Google Maps it looks like Exposition Blvd. in this area has two lanes of traffic each way separated by a median containing two sets of track. The crossovers appear to be controlled by stop lights. It would be nice if the article had a little more information on the circumstances. Did the car have the right of way? Was the driver cited or arrested? Were the traffic lights functioning?

The traffic lights are set for the trolley to have the right of way at these intersections. The driver of the Hyundai ignored the light.

I like your choice of High Ebonics. Out here on the East coast they favor the more vulgarized,Low Ebonics: "Train comin' bitch-- word yo!''.
