Fred - You’re right. I don’t get to the city much living here in the boonies but I do hear a difference even in some of the Southern Cities.
One thing that is really annoying is the pattern called: “Up Talk.” It comes at the end of a sentence and the speaker, males and females, have rise in inflection as if they are asking a question. Listen for it; you’ll hear it.
It seemed years ago that only females had this speech pattern and now it has crossed over the males ...probably the “metro” stuff.
