The pundit class in the U.S. and much of the rest of the world is still seething over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's electoral triumph last week.
On Monday, Dan Perry at the Associated Press took that hysteria to a new level, in effect attempting to discredit Bibi's win by writing that, after all, it may not really be correct to call Israel a democracy. That's because "Palestinians" who are in the occupied territories whose leaders, and more than likely a majority of its residents would vote to expel all Jews from Israel in a heartbeat if they could can't vote (bolds are mine):
AP ANALYSIS: IS ISRAEL DEMOCRATIC? NOT SO CLEAR
Is Israel a democracy? The answer is not so straightforward, and it increasingly matters given the diplomatic fallout over hardliner Benjamin Netanyahu's reelection last week.
... (Israel's) its claim to be the only true democracy in the Middle East has been key to its branding and its vitally important claim on U.S. military, diplomatic and financial support. Israel's elections, from campaign rules to vote counts, are indeed not suspect.
But with the occupation of the West Bank grinding on toward the half-century mark, and with Netanyahu's election-day suggestion that no change is imminent, hard questions arise.

It is becoming quite clear that the USA is less democratic each day.
democracy: Three rapists and two women voting on how to spend the afternoon.

The AP quickly joining the Obama “Trash The Jews” Parade.
No the West Bank Palestinians don’t get to vote in Israeli elections - they aren’t Israeli citizens. Is there a country allows non-citizens to vote in their elections?
Not so clear that AP is a news organization.
Okay, for discussion, do the Israelis living in settlements vote in West Bank elections or in Israeli elections?
Well, it is perfectly clear that AP isn’t the apogee of journalism.
Not even close.
And we don’t allow illegals to vote so the same claim can be made about here.
I’m sure plenty of illegals will be voting here in U.S. soon.

Yet it is OK for the Obama to use the IRS, FEC, DEA and FBI
to suppress the voice and the vote of the TEA party. So
according to the AP’s Dan Perry the Palestinians are more
entitled to vote than conservative American citizens.
As opposed to democratic countries such as Russia, China,Saudi Arabia,Iran, Lebanon, etc etc
I’ll venture that most of the voting public doesn’t understand the difference between a democracy and a republic. When it comes to voting in the US, I’d be in favor of:
1) A short current events test. On-the-street interviews (e.g., Jay Leno) suggest most people have no clue what they are voting for.
2) If you don’t pay any federal taxes, no voting in federal elections. Same for state and local, although almost everyone gets hit with property, income, and sales taxes either directly or indirectly.
Yeah, I know there’s no chance, but I’m tired of deadbeats and other non-productive members of this Republic determining its direction. Other than buying votes with my tax dollars, what’s the justification for free cell phones? It’s stupid.
Im sure plenty of illegals will be voting here in U.S. soon.

In Colorado all you have to say is I think I would like to live in this county and get to vote.
Anyone with an Israeli ID can vote in Israeli elections. That includes east Jerusalem and Golan.
West Bank and Gaza have their own elections and generally do not allow those with Israeli IDs to vote.
This gets into terms like annexation and land swaps.
