Do you know the logistics of setting this door switch?
For all I know, it is located on the giant instrument panel in front of them and along with descent course, kept getting set off by his bobbling hand after his aneurysm struck.
I’ve seen too much on air disaster shows to glibly take any bit of info as certain pointer to XX conclusion.
And I’ve personally experienced scenarios that are pretty wacky with the reaction “what are the odds?” What were the odds my 1yo who was never the grabby type picking up a phone and hitting 911? Yet there was a policeman at my door asking what was wrong to a mystified me! What were the odds my uncle and his girlfriend would BOTH have medical events at almost the same time while I waited for them at my Christmas party, so no one knew where they were?
It has three positions: Normal, Unlock, and Lock.
To unlock the door, a pilot moves the switch to Unlock. In an emergency, the cabin crew can enter a secret code (easily extracted by any competent jihadi), which causes the door to unlock. However, if the pilots suspect trouble, they can move the switch to Lock. That disables the unlock code for the next five minutes to twenty minutes (programmable). The unlock code sounds an alarm first, reminding the pilots to renew their veto on entry. Of course, if they are incapacitated, that won't happen, and the door will unlock.
