Perhaps an aviation expert will weigh in, but 28 seems awfully young to be at the helm of a large passenger aircraft.

Marseille prosecutor says co-pilot Andreas Lubitz probably crashed plane ‘deliberately’ - both he and pilot Patrick S trained at Lufthansa Flight Training School in Bremen.

“See the pattern???”

Yup.

One hopes that the ballot box will still have some legitimacy in another 21 months or so.

IMHO

This is looking more and more like a suicide of non-Muslim.

I think there MAY have been a suicide note left and that is why this was a criminal investigation from the first hours.

You don't know much about the airline industry....especially, low-cost carriers.

You would be SHOCKED to know what starting salaries are for pilots that command most of the smaller, regional jets and turboprops.

BBC: “We hear the pilot ask the co-pilot to take control of the plane and we hear at the same time the sound of a seat moving backwards and the sound of a door closing,” Mr Robin told reporters.

“At that moment, the co-pilot is controlling the plane by himself. While he is alone, the co-pilot presses the buttons of the flight monitoring system to put into action the descent of the aeroplane.

“This action on the altitude controls can only be deliberate.”

He added: “The most plausible interpretation is that the co-pilot through a voluntary act had refused to open the cabin door to let the captain in. He pushed the button to trigger the aircraft to lose altitude. He operated this button for a reason we don’t know yet, but it appears that the reason was to destroy this plane.”

Mr Robin added that air traffic controllers made repeated attempts to contact the aircraft, but to no avail.

The co-pilot was not known to have any links with terrorism, he said.

A friend of mine dated one of those pilots, but he was in his 30s and flew a small commuter plane between two places like Scranton and Buffalo. I suppose I’d always presumed that to fly a large commercial jet one needed a significant number of hours flying and tons of experience. Most of the time when I fly, the pilots appear to be in their 50s or older.

Could be. Presser said both pilots families were with officials but being kept separate from passengers families.

Not married? Love triangle? Rejection?

Big and I mean big lawsuits coming on this one. I can see many cases for negligence on the part of the airline if this guy was a risk and the company knew or should have known. His age is a factor too.

You forgot the Egypt Air flight 990 in 1999. Muslim pilot nose dived his plane full of passengers into the Atlantic while chanting a Islamic prayer.

There are two rules in life..

1. Bless each day that you are an American.

2. Never fly on a foreign airline.

Might just be a horrendous tragedy that was unpreventable. What goes through a persons head to take so many with you. It has to vengeance about something.
