When I was a kid there were a bunch of grocery stores called IGA stores.
IGA was “Independent Grocer’s Alliance”.
The name has always puzzled me.

I remember IGA from Yulan, NY, a small town on the Delaware in southern NY. If I recall, they had IGA root beer and it was darn good.
I used to shop at IGA when I first moved to Houston many years ago. There was a DQ right next door too.
