Yes, MG Dahl did the Article 32 hearing, that has been the ‘delay’ in this case. At least it is my understanding that MG Dahl’s investigation was suppose to be the Art 32.

I was discussing Bergdahl with a retire USMC LTC friend.
He made the comment that because the Army kept promoting him, they must have been carrying him as a PoW instead of either AWOL or a deserter. Friend mentioned Pvt Garwood who went AWOL during Vietnam and joined the VC; the Marines kept him as “unauthorized absence” and gave him a dishonorable discharge when he finally decided he wanted to come back to the States.

Thus how the Army carried Bergdahl these past 5+ years will probably have an effect on any decision.

Looks like the Army figured out how to charge him with desertion. Good for the Army!
