Please explain how Cruz is not. Let’s start there.
most americans are born as natural born citizens, as they were born on the soil to 2 citizen parents.
someone with one citizen parent and one foreign parent, has a choice of citizenship. i myself am a US citizen and a british citizen, as i was born on US soil to a US father and a Scottish mother. since i was born a US and british citizen, i was not naturally a US citizen... as i had a choice.
the only hook to US citizenship at birth for tcruz is his mother. but, at birth, he was also canadian by being born on the soil, cuban by his father, and possibly british by descent as canada was a british protectorate (i’d have to check that last one)
point is, he’s obviously not even close to a natural born citizen.
for simplicity, remember it like this:
a natural born citizen is a citizen naturally, as there were no alternatives at birth.
