When the CBS show Madam Secretary premiered last September, there was much speculation [1] and hand-wringing about whether or not the title character, Secretary of State Elizabeth McCord played by Tea Leoni, was inspired by Hillary Clinton, and if this show was meant as a long-running political ad humanizing Hillary Clinton. Such an effort might help make her ascension to the White House seem plausible, if not inevitable.
Despite the denials, it seems clear that Madam Secretary was just such an effort, and still is. But in the few episodes Ive watched, I havent seen much of what we know of the real Hillary [2]. If I had the power to fire her, I would have fired her, commented her long-time critic Jerome Zeifman in 1998, reflecting upon Mrs. Clintons political maneuvers during the impeachment of President Richard Nixon.

“Madame Secretary” should be considered as a contribution to Hillary’s presidential campaign, and should be forced to comply with all applicable election regulations.
