Last week, I criticized Bibi for making statements at the close of his campaign that may have helped him peel off a few voters from right-wing parties, but that he had to know would cost Israel diplomatically. In particular, he stated that given regional instability and Palestinian PM Abbass collaboration with Hamas, there would be no Palestinian state under his watcha statement not surprisingly simplified in the international media into Netanyahu walks back his support for the two-state solution.
As I pointed out, the statement was effectively meaningless, because Netanyahu could finesse it away at any time, and its not like there was any significant possibility that the opposition would reach a peace agreement with the Palestinians any time soon, for exactly the reasons Netanyahu articulated. Butand heres the key butthe Obama Administration, from the get-go, has been looking for any excuse to distance itself from Israel in general (recall that in early 2009 he told Jewish leaders that the Bush Administration had been too friendly to Israel and that it was important to create daylight between Israel and the U.S.) and Netanyahu in particular, going back to when Obama, still a presidential candidate, made it clear that he would have no fondness for an Israeli government led by Netanyahus Likud party. Netanyahus speech to Congress on Iran only exacerbated that dynamic, and it was his responsibility not to give Obama any further excuses to downgrade U.S.-Israel relations.
But that doesnt mean we should let the Obama Administration off the hook for its egregious dishonesty. The administration did everything it could to undermine Netanyahu and help the center-left opposition, including sending State Department funds to an organization working to defeat Netanyahu.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained, after the election, that he did not abandon Bar-Ilan and/or the TWO-STATE SOLUTION!!
Obama is making up several issues ... which are really non-issues ... and are for only making political hay! Obama wants to get rid of Ambassador Dermer, because of the arrangements made through him (with the Speaker of the House) to have Netanyahu give a speech to a Joint Session of Congress. That really fired up the political opposition to the Iran agreement that Obama is trying to push through, and therefore Obama is looking for some payback ... namely get rid of Dermer!
And in regards to the other issue, and Obama accusing Netanyahu of being against a TWO-STATE SOLUTION ... thats just an outright lie from Obama.
Obama is making this out to be REAL BIG ISSUE and is throwing a Temper Tantrum over it, even though he knows its TOTALLY FALSE and its a LIE that hes telling the American public. Obama is hoping the FOOLS in America will believe him and not Netanyahu, when Netanyahu says he STILL supports a Two-State Solution, per Bar-Ilan.
The reason why Obama is making this out to be a big issue, is that he wants to use it to abandon Israel in the United Nations (by refusing to block UN Security Council Resolutions against Israel) and in the future by implementing sanctions against Israel.
As Obama knows very well, and as Netanyahu has made clear repeatedly after the election ... Netanyahu has not abandoned his Bar-Ilan policy speech regarding his support for the Two-State Solution.
Obama is trying to take a misunderstood campaign blurb and turn into a major policy reversal. Its no such thing and Obama knows it!
This is what I said regarding what the Liberal press and Obama are doing ...
This a FALSE statement from the press and from Obama. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has REPEATEDLY sought to correct the mistaken impression that he does not support a TWO-STATE SOLUTION.
He does support it and he says that he has maintained that same support ... going back to his Bar-Ilan speech, when Obama first got into office. He says his position in support of the Two-State Solution has not changed since then.
What it is ... is that the liberal press and Obama want to hammer on Netanyahu no matter what ... and theyve picked up on a LIE that Netanyahu does not support the Two-State Solution.
Heres Netanyahus support for a Two-State Solution from what he has been referring to in the last several days to COUNTER THIS LIE!

I don’t CARE if it is faux outrage. You say what you mean, because that’s who you are, or you apologize and take it back.
More Ted Cruz authenticity, and much less Obama drama.
Odd that it comes out again just when Obama has us reevaluating our position on Israel. With the rising level of antisemitic feelings in Europe, it might be effective.
The reason residents of the Palestinian authority don’t get to vote is that they don’t hold elections. Like many backward states, one election is enough. The President should spend his time worrying about getting Puerto Ricans and illegal aliens the vote. Heck, why not Mexicans.
Because of his position I think his behavior goes far beyond what can be dismissed as a temper tantrum. He clearly hates Israel as much as he hates Bibi, he hates to lose, and can’t resist acting out. Acting out by a world leader can have serious consequences. I doubt either our friends or enemies look at him and see rationality, without which relationships are all up in the air.
I don’t think it’s faux outrage, it’s hatred consistant with the beliefs of many people who formed his worldview.
Yes, he evidences extreme hatred, but I was only using the terminology from another article on Free Republic ... :-) ...
McCain to Obama on Netanyahu: Get over your temper tantrum, Mr. President

None the less, the “intellectual class” has for some time pushed the apartheid line at Israel. Our intelligencia has resurrected the 1930s prejudices against Jews. In their view, the Israelis are European Jewish refugees that oppress legitimate Palestinians. In other words, much of the world has bought the Islamist lies.
So agreed. And, I was talking to the writer, but not to you, btw. :) Sometimes it’s hard to tell, I know.
Classic!
