Ted Cruz to announce presidential bid Monday
Houston Chronicle ^ | March 21, 2015 11:34pm | Theodore Schleifer

Sen. Ted Cruz plans to announce Monday that he will run for president of the United States, accelerating his already rapid three-year rise from a tea party insurgent in Texas into a divisive political force in Washington.

Cruz will launch a presidential bid outright rather than form an exploratory committee, said senior advisers with direct knowledge of his plans, who spoke on condition of anonymity because an official announcement had not been made yet. They say he is done exploring and is now ready to become the first Republican presidential candidate. …

I have already said that I prefer he remain in the Senate. But, if I am polled, I will surely name him as my choice.

If his announcement does happen, kudos to him for not keeping some Conservatives on the hook like Palin did.

“Ted Cruz is destined to be President and nothing can stop that from happening.”...

Hopefully your optimisim will spread over the nation if there are some conservatives still remaining. The only problem I see in the way is the demodummies have their ways of building major road blocks and will use what ever they have to to get their way.

“Even if Ted were to be in a debate moderated by leftists he would destroy the moderator. “

You’re right. I typed too soon, too late at night.

Loving the energy on this thread!

This is fantastic news! I've heard from several prospective campaign donors and conservative activists in Texas and elsewhere over the past months that have offered to help Sen. Cruz when/if he announced and I haven't even been soliciting donations. My informal tally is already in seven figures.

The same degree of grassroots enthusiasm propelled Cruz to defeat moderate (RINO) David Dewhurst, former Lt. Gov. of Texas, in the 2012 primary race for U.S. Senate. Small donations really added up in that race, eventually fueling a win for Cruz when the entire Texas GOP Establishment initially believed Dewhurst had the nomination all locked up (that sounds familiar today). Fund raising got substantially easier when Sarah Palin endorsed Cruz in that primary race. I won’t be surprised if Sarah Palin endorses Cruz in his bid for the presidency, and it may come sooner than anyone thinks.

Cruz has my full support and my wallet is open to the limit permitted by campaign contribution law. I sincerely hope fellow Freepers will give Cruz serious consideration and support. This good man is a consistent and dependable conservative. He tells the truth and does what he promises.

As posted by you to your Freeper page:

It appears that you just might be the ISIS mole around here...

Cruz is too young and inexperienced.

... And, as such, thinking Freepers will take whatever it is you say about anything with a healthy level of suspicion.

LOVE IT!!! Makes fun of “the process” while leapfrogging the rest of the field!

I also like his timing. Probably kept the Democrats up all night trying to get their dirt over to the media in time for the Sunday shows. With that timing, he likely gets talked about, but the media doesn’t have enough time to really start blasting him - about the best a Republican can do these days.

“Being a statesman is about character, not experience. Experience turns one into a politician, and one with very great left-wing tendencies. Sometimes “experience” must be unlearned.”

Well said.

Absolutely, thanks to Sarah. She has been so maligned in the media that I’m not sure she will ever run for any office again, but she would make a fine Secretary of Energy. She has a lot of experience in that field and energy is the key to our economy and security.

God Bless Sarah and God Bless Ted Cruz!

You are exactly right that we got what we deserved with Obama because we turned from our faith and the principles that founded us as a nation. I hope and pray that we have learned our lesson. As for the youth, we need to talk to them and tell them that the country they are living in is not the America we grew up in. Encourage them to get involved in restoring this country. The future belongs to them and their children. Learn from our mistakes and this time elect a Leader.
Ted Cruz, more than any other inspires and lifts up our nation.
On another note, I doubt that what Chris Matthews feels is a tingle going up his leg when this man speaks!:)

As soon as Ted makes it official...he'll be receiving a check and will continue to receive donations from my family. It's that important.

We need a constitutional conservative in the White House to turn back decades of socialist/liberal republican policy/regulation.

I see this election as truly our last hope for America. I thought this way about the last congressional elections...but we've been betrayed y'all.

Put Ted Cruz in the White House, he will utterly shame the republicans that ride to the left.

$end Ca$h...don't just post...yea, go Ted 2016! He will need grassroots cash-flow because the republican establishment as well as the democrats will put all they have into defeating Ted Cruz.

It has just occurred to me why he would announce so early.

Time is running out for the country. Prez O has 22 more months to finish our beloved country up and there is no plan from the leadership in Congress to counteract this destruction with full force. Ted Cruz may see his early announcement as the way to save the country. The mainstream media love 'divisiveness.' They will cover him more as a presidential candidate than as a junior senator.

After observing Ted Cruz for a few years, I see him as someone with principles and intellect. He can handle the press just fine.

This is it people. This is the closest thing to run for America’s highest office since Reagan ran 30+ years ago.

This is the final stand of conservatives within the Republican Party. If Ted Cruz fails, this could be the end of conservative support for the GOP and the beginning of a new party.

Ted Cruz is smart and so I’m sure the staff have everything at http://thegreenpapers.com down pat. There needs to be some serious changes with some of the primaries. I have no doubt Cruz will dominate the establishment candidate in many Caucus states.

But 2 suggestions:

(1) The Reddest Red States in the South and Midwest need to go to WTA. Texas needs to be WTA and move its primary to the end of January.

(2) The Blue States and Island Territories need to be reduced to proportional.

Otherwise, we’ll get the same result as 2012. In all of the early primaries up until the Arizona Primary, Romney won exactly (2) Counties between 10 states that were actually Republican counties in the General Election...the rest were counties won by Democrats.

In the last 2 Election cycles, the path to the Establishment candidate has followed the simple formula:

(1) Win the Blue States that are WTA

and

(2) Split the vote proportionally in the Southern/Midwest Red States where it makes it impossible for a conservative challenger to emerge with more than 1 person in the race.

This means the Establishment will pour boatloads of money into Mike Huckabee’s campaign since he would be the most likely to continue on with no hope. Rand Paul would probably drop out and endorse the establishment at some point, as would Marco Rubio.

Cruz needs IA. 30% would be nice. Interestingly, he actually polls double digits in NH where other conservatives have struggled. I think he would dominate SC.

What isn’t there to like about the guy?

He debates like Newt, but is even better.

He’s thorough in his policy explanations like Paul Ryan, but not boring.

Personally, I think he’s more tactful at delivering those catch-lines than even Palin, and more closely associated with the Reagan method of delivery.

He’s not a “single-issue” guy but gives weight to the various issues as deemed appropriate for the time. For example, Ted Cruz is strong on illegal immigration, but not pigeon-holed into just that issue like Tom Tancredo was. Same with Obamacare and the social issues that Bachmann and Santorum were looked strong on, but weak on other subjects.

Unlike Fred Thompson, I have no doubt that once Cruz enters this race, he will be in it to win it and doing whatever he can to get his message across as hard as he can.

Cruz is dangerous to liberals because his method of conservative delivery will actually bring in more votes among Democrats because he will not let the media define him like other candidates have.

If you threw Cruz into a room with 30 hard-core leftists and gave him a podium and time to speak (30 minutes), by the end of the speech, there would be at least 2 listeners that would question their liberal beliefs and perhaps think differently, and while that may not seem like a whole lot, that’s the beginning to recovery and I see no other candidate that would have even that success.

In the General Election, he can win FL. We’ve seen in VA that if you actually run a conservative candidate those people can still win. He would could win CO. He would have better chances in IA/NV than previous candidates. That’s all it would take.

It’s time to put the country on CRUZ Control.

Cruz is the ONLY Republican I will fund and vote for.

Heck, I’ll even change my registration to (R) from (I) just to ensure I can vote in the primaries for him.

Post of the day.

Dear leader has no effective opposition and we conservatives have limited voice to oppose the systematic destruction being wrought. Looks like we just got one heck of a voice.
