the vast majority of fracking in the United States is done on private land. Great way to have 100% of ALL fracking performed on private land.

I live in Marcellus shale country. The fracking boom has been a blessing to this old rustbelt area. Thousands of jobs, low unemployment, new construction, you name it. Leave it to Obama to try screw all that up. FUBO.

I’m surprised they didn’t go the Andy Cuomo route: commission a “study” by a group with a known anti-fracking bias to study fracking, then ban it based on the “study.”

could contaminate They don't have any proof, they are just worried about it.
And they call themselves progressives? They are the classic definition of Luddites.
Or maybe they are just waiting for someone to bribe them.

If there wasn't already an oil glut, this would be a pretty good way to make sure the FedGov didn't participate in the benefits from increased drilling.
Of course, they're stacking rigs now due to low oil prices, so the FedGov is late to the party. Like...really late. As usual.
But if there is ever another drilling boom at some point in the future, this policy will make sure that we, the taxpayers, don't benefit from it. After all...it's not like the FedGov needs the money or anything...

But environmentalists fear that the technique...could contaminate surrounding water supplies and wildlife lead to economic prosperity and energy independence.
And that's the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Great! The family owns several sections of leases in Texas. No fracking on public land makes the drilling prospects better for us. The only wildlife we have are coyotes and jack rabbits, and nothing can hurt them.

No more fracking for you. Fracking Nazis. :-)
