The apostrophe is dead -- no amount of grammatical triage can save it now. Ditto homophones and, frankly, the English language overall. Most native-born Americans now speak pidgin English with no comprehension whatsoever of what words mean, their origins or how they're spelled. Our educational system totally collapsed in the 1970s.

Even Journalism majors don’t seem to have a solid grasp on proper grammar; they’re more focused on social justice, income inequality, and defending and supporting their Dear Leader.
Many of the younger generation write like they text. Truly pathetic!
