Hint: If you return a call from the IRS and you don't wait 20 minutes at the very least for a real person, it isn't them. :)

This is just a low-tech version of phishing. Another variation is the caller claims to be your bank or credit card company. Bottom line is these entities do not do business this way and never, ever give any financial information to a phone caller.
If they insist, tell them you will hang up and call their office in the phone listings.
