Well, Walker has been dealing with “local” issues, and now he has to make an adjustment to the “national” issues. While immigrants may not have impacted his state all that much, he needs to see the issue from a national security issue instead of a state by state issue.

I still say Walker did not like what she said in her emails and I believe she was TOLD to resign or be fired. And, it might have been what he was waiting for. I know a lot of us were very upset when she got hired. Maybe some of his other staff were upset as well.

The problem I see is that Liz Mair was a known quantity when Walker hired her.

She’s been a major GOP campaign player for years, and she not only didn’t keep her views hidden she posted them for the whole world to see on her own website.

If her views contradicted Walker’s own past positions we could attribute it to sloppy vetting. But that isn’t the case. Reagan and Kennedy both said ‘personnel is policy’. Who you hire to work for you is where you are headed.

A couple of days ago I posted Liz Mair in her own words from her own site:

“Liz Nair in her own words...”

...and here she is:

” I am a dual US-UK citizen, and the NHS was my primary source of health care for many, many years.”

“I’m actually a long-time gay rights supporter. I am on the board of the Young Conservatives for the Freedom to Marry. I was on the board of GOProud. I’ve been on the record as supporting same-sex marriage for far longer than the vast majority of Democrats or liberals.”

” I’m pro-gay-marriage and I’m also pro-choice, though I have some very major moral objections to abortion in most circumstances and would never have an abortion myself. “

“12. You want to deport all unlawful immigrants.

Unless we’re talking gang members or people involved in major financial crimes or sex criminals, no, I’m actually basically for amnesty. I’ll even use the word, unlike a lot of people.”

“15. You’re a RINO.

I have worked for, and like, a lot of more moderate Republicans. And I am a social liberal, and a big softie on immigration. So, yes, kinda”

“17. You spend more time trashing Republicans than Democrats.

Sometimes this is true. But the thing is, there are so many other people who trash Democrats so effectively that I’d just look too second-rate if I focused exclusively on that.”

“20. You’re not even American, how are you qualified to opine on American politics/culture/history/whatever?

I am American. I am also British.”
