Also another point - if planes still need humans to sit in the cockpit and take over if something were to go wrong - and they’ve had more time to work to solve that problem and there is more infrastructure in place to help to solve that problem - why are we to think that ground transportation should be fundamentally any different.
I think a car “autopilot” can be made to work 99.something percent of the time. But getting that to 100% - not holding my breath.
