Claiming it could affect Herzog's chances of forming a government, his co-chair gives up rotation deal that brought them together.
MK Tzipi Livni announced Monday that she has given up the rotation deal for prime minister she shared with Labor leader Yitzhak Herzog, which had been a key condition of Labor and Hatnua's merging.
According to Livni, maintaining the rotation would constitute an obstacle to Herzog forming the next government. She stressed that the most important thing was to replace Binyamin Netanyahu as Prime Minister.
Over the weekend, Herzog and Livni dropped hints that they were ready to waive the rotation deal.
"Three months ago we began a campaign for unnecessary elections when Netanyahu dissolved his own government," Livni said during a cultural Shabbat event this past Saturday. "So we went to the public and said what's the meaning of the partnership we built - a partnership of equals."
Livni stressed that despite criticism from the press, the public actually supported the idea of a rotation.
"Hundreds of thousands of people thought it was a good thing," the former Justice Minister claimed. "With that we're going to win next week."
"Even if we don't receive 61 mandates, I'm sure that we have invested in the relationship we built, that the two of us together, and each of us separately, will apply all that we promised."
"That is how we are going to replace Netanyahu and how we will build a government that will allow our partners to join us," she stressed.

Livni is as about as believable on this as .... Obola.
I think Livni is playing Second Fiddle here ... she’s not running the show.
It looks like a last-minute desperate push for more votes.
It tells us more about these two clowns and their fitness to lead the country.
I devoutly hope they both lose.
The big key thing here on this is that it makes it more possible that the Zionist Union will be able to form a government ... and then a bonus of getting more votes. I think the “key” is in forming the government.
How many times has Yitzhak Herzog visited the White House ?
Really?
With these clowns?
They strike me as supremely arrogant and they’re in this for themselves.
Not for the good of the country.
It’s not that I personally don’t think Netanyahu is better for Israel, but rather that this is a strategic move on the part of the ZU. And it’s for the purpose of gathering together that coalition ... OR ... to make it possible to have a Unity Government. This is “strategy”.

The fact this move Upsets you and your running around Spinning this Lie for the Left at every Israeli post says it all !
Bibi is looking Good and its killing you ! Go troll somewhere else. No one believes Left wing Bibi hater !
“I devoutly hope they both lose.”
Want Bibi to win and the first thing he does is ban every member of the Anti-Bibi group from ever entering Israel again. Then revoke the passports of everyone in Israel who supported this group.
Explaining the strategy going on here does not mean I hate Netanyahu. A lot of readers may not understand what is happening, so the explanation of it helps.
As far as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is concerned, I have always said he’s the best Prime Minister for Israel ... and I have supported Netanyahu 100% in his policies and actions, even before his last stint in becoming Prime Minister. I’ve supported him all the way back to the “Clinton days” ... :-) ...
You’ll have to work on understanding that posting news and explaining strategy is different from supporting candidates ... they are each in their own category.
LOL ... that would be like saying that we’re going to revoke the citizenship of all the voters for Obama and remove them from this country ... :-) ...
It sounds good in a movie or novel, but it doesn’t work in real life, which is where we all happen to be right now.
I think in the long run Israel is going to have trouble, but that’s only because I know what the Bible says about it ... and not from politics. Iran is obviously going to be involved in a war with Israel, and that’s with the Russian confederation of nations that move to attack and invade Israel (in Ezekiel 38/39). However God fully and totally protects Israel so that the entire world KNOWS that it was God ALONE that did it. I don’t know how far off that is, though.
What I hope is that the Zionist Union loses...because they could be worse for Israel than Obama is for the USA...and Obama is bad...
“It sounds good in a movie or novel, but it doesnt work in real life, which is where we all happen to be right now.”
Real life? You mean this isn’t a bad dream?
Dang!
Yeah, ya can’t wake up from this one ... LOL ...
I disagree. I think Bibi just needs to ignore the results if fraud and outside influence (::cough Obama cough::) make it look as though he lost. Stay in office and brazen it out. The IDF is loyal to him, after all, since they understand the security situation better than anyone.
What was it Andrew Jackson was supposed to have said? The Chief Justice has made his decision, now let him enforce it? Something like that needs to be said to the left in Israel, because a result that kicks Bibi out is frankly illegitimate.
Traveler claims to be a “Christian Zionist” as if that gives him/her credentials that are unimpeachable. And yet he/she seems to delight in any bad news for Netanyahu. I think he/she is a State Department troll.
