Israel must repair U.S. ties after election: ex-envoy to Washington [Michael Oren]

(Reuters) - Israel must try to repair relations with the United States no matter who wins Tuesday's election, said Michael Oren, a former Israeli ambassador to Washington and a potential foreign minister if his party joins the next government.

"We have to do a major reach-out. There's some work to be done," Oren said, citing strained ties after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's March 3 speech to Congress assailing a potential nuclear deal with Iran sought by President Barack Obama.

The U.S.-born Oren, 59, was appointed ambassador by Netanyahu in 2009 and served until 2013. He is running for parliament as a candidate of the centrist Kulanu party that could be a kingmaker in building a governing coalition after the poll.

In an interview with Reuters, Oren, a historian, said Israel needed to restore bipartisan Congressional support in the face of Democrats' anger over Netanyahu's acceptance of the Republican invitation to address Congress.

I don’t think there’s any more interest in reparing relations with Netenyahu on the part of the Obama Administration than there is in reparing relations with Obama on the part of the Netenyahu government.

Kulanu is almost certain to be in the next government, regardless of who wins the election. As a centrist party, they could join a coalition either with Likud or with Zionist Union, and whoever wins is going to need them.

Obama wants Israel gone. It doesn’t matter WHO is elected. He’d happily have them overrun & slaughtered, just like every other muslim in the world.

Israel has nO way of ‘repairing relations with USA’ because Israel has excellent realations with America (the people).
It is Obama that wants to destroy Israel.
There is no way to ‘repair damage with Obama’ other than, of course, to install Obama’s desired Quisling regime in Jerusalem that will “play Obama’s game” in saboutaging Israel. If that were to happen, give Israel maybe 22 months to live. (or at best, a very few years, Obama will probably want his IslamoNazi comradtes to defer the final murder of the damned Jooos until Obama is out of office).
EIther way, kiss the Jews goodbye (and ‘relations with Obama’ won’t matter anymore)

After obozo, America will need to apologize to Israel and right the ship in the entire middle east. A good start would be to arrest and prosecute every last NWO puke to include the entire Bush clan.

I agree, 100%!!! Begin by having the Democrat Party leadership demand the resignation of Barack Hussein Obama for starters....and force him to resign immediately!!! Then we can go from there!!!

Barry broke it, so Israel must fix it? WTF?

Relations cannot be repaired unless America gets rid of it's Islamist president.

I guess Israel could always just throw some money at Sharpton, and he could then make sure it gets spread around to all the right accounts in the US (Acorn, Obama, yadda yadda yadda...)

Excuse me? Israel didn’t destroy relations with the USA. It was the petulant anti-Semite Barry Obama.

no ...the USA must somehow rid itself of the corrupt and increasingly illegal administration it has fallen under the thrall of. America can’t wait until the end of 2016 . America can’t wait for a repeat of the same corrupted political games and media manipulation . WW3 has begun and if we do not take serious action sooner , rather than later , America will cease to exist .

Obama practically sh-t in public on the steps of congress — never before has any occupant of the WH made such a complete ass of himself — and he did it based on another of his many lies, too. Short of commuting national suicide like O wants them to, there’s nothing any PM or government in Jerusalem can possibly do about Obama. After all, we the American people, our Congress, our judiciary, and our constitution have all fallen victim to his dictatorship. Some little county 6000 miles away won’t be able to fix anything in Washington DC. Looks like we all just have to wait the storm out and hope America is still here and that we can repair all the damage in 2016-17.
