Many conservatives believe that her life belonged to her. That the decision to end her life belonged to her and her God. The state, the church, the medical community, the courts and FReepers have no say in this.

I have no plans to spend my so-called "golden years" soiling myself & barely able to communicate in a nursing home.

And I don't require a law allowing me to speed up the inevitable should that scenario unfold. Likewise, it matters little to me if any level of government thinks it will not "allow" me to take such measures.

I see no problem with assisted suicide if that’s the individuals wish. I do not want to burden my children with the care of a demented, terminally I’ll old woman.
But this will have put a foot in the door for those without a voice in the future. Our laws always end up going farther than ever intended and in the future maybe you will be required to commit suicide by age 80.

I agree with your opinion and good intention, but you're trying to get help with a conservative effort from a political party of potheads, just like the other political party. Most potheads are going to agree with assisted suicide and other anti-conservative efforts.

With marijuana legal, police, commissioners, mayors and judges will be potheads. Why bother with any political effort for justice? We should do our best to take care of ourselves and our families and survive the collapse of our nation.
