It was big enough news that the local (not national of course) NAACP has commented on the incident. They blamed Meridian public school system, not the monsters who committed the act.

So I wonder, does the NAACP think the Meridian teacher's union should be purged of the incompetents who failed to teach these unfortunate young men right from wrong? Yea, me neither.

There is no bigger non-fan than me of the unionized public school teachers, but I’d be willing to bet that at some point the concept of “it’s bad to murder little old ladies” was conveyed.
