AUSTIN, Texas Former Vice President Al Gore on Friday called on SXSW attendees to punish climate-change deniers, saying politicians should pay a price for rejecting accepted science.
Gore said smart investors are moving away from companies tied to fossil fuels and toward companies investing in alterternative energy.
"We need to put a price on carbon to accelerate these market trends, Gore said, referring to a proposed federal cap-and-trade system that would penalize companies that exceeded their carbon-emission limits. And in order to do that, we need to put a price on denial in politics."

I believe the price for climate denial will become real in the next year along with the price for dissent generally. I rather expect the first arrests of prominent conservatives spring or summer next year. Politicians won't be taken at first but 1 or 2 prominent commentators on tax or domestic violence charges, maybe. Some politicians will get attention a little later when some like Sasse or Cotton don't take the hint and shut up or change their tunes.
Perhaps at the same time will come arrests of a smattering of low level folks, like maybe FR people around the country. It will only be a few, not enough to stir the citizenry to actual resistance. But there will be waves of arrests in gradually increasing numbers along with SWATs here and there aimed at people with "arsenals." Perhaps there will be a much publicized Federal gun "buyback" with implied threats of confiscation and jail for illegal firearms - those on a long list of "military capable" weapons. Whatever, it is going to get real before November 2016.

Of course he goes to Austin where he can find the only sizable audience in Texas that would agree with him.

Interesting all the scandals that are popping up regarding political connections to “alternative energy,” particularly solar: Reed, Pelosi, Oregon Gov. Kitzhaber and now Jerry Brown’s administration. Before that, I believe there were Clinton and Kerry connections with the Chicago Carbon exchange. These folks are lining their pockets with this carbon scam.

IMHO the climate change Elmer Gantry’s should pay a price.
To: rktman
Gore says climate-change deniers should pay political price Anyone who thinks the climate doesn't change.....naturally.....is too dumb to be in politics.
Anyone who thinks we can stop the climate from changing, by making energy more expensive and less reliable, is even dumber.
Neither group should be given political power.

I don’t and never have denied “climate change”, we’ve had it since Earth was formed, at least you now call it what it is and that’s because you can’t decide if it’s warming or cooling, all you know is you want to use it as an excuse for drastic measures to destroy freedom and self determination and replace it with whatever draconian socialist government you prefer. the climate was changing before man got here and will be changing after we’re gone or at least to the end and there’s nothing we can do about. You have blown any credibility you have and should shut up and go home, you can occupy yourself by cleaning up the mess from your zinc mines.

If Al Gore is so sure that it is getting hotter, and that the oceans are going to rise, why did he spend $9 million for a mansion on the Pacific Ocean? If there was ONE real reporter at the New York Times, Gore would be asked that question... but there's not ... oh well...
