Why do modern candidates always be the “next” somebody? Perhaps, just perhaps, he’s the FIRST Scott Walker? Huh?
Actually, I know more about Scott Walker than I do Calvin Coolidge.
I suppose Garland Tucker wrote this because he’s a Coolidge scholar and recognized similarities with Coolidge, Reagan and Walker.
But your point is well taken.
The story goes, a society dame was sitting next to Silent Cal at dinner, and said,
“I bet my friend Mrs. ___________ a thousand dollars I could get you to say more than two words!”
“You lose.”
