Subway vigilante Bernie Goetz has little remorse for the man who was gunned down in a Brooklyn subway station by a retired correction officer.
“People shouldn't go looking for trouble,” Goetz, 67, told the Daily News.
"I do not think that this guy would have started up with them,” Goetz added. “I would guess that they started up with him.”
Goetz, who shot four black teens inside a subway car in 1984, said victim Gilbert Drogheo, 32, and his pal made a fatal mistake in harassing the armed man.

I had three of them come up on me in the middle of the street in South Norfolk (ghetto-lite) to try to STEAL MY COAT!! Yeah, my worn, tattered suede-leather “Daniel Boone” coat. I was 230 lbs of solid muscle, and they were skinny teens, although one of them had a knife. I disarmed him, breaking his arm in the process, put another one through a plate glass window which caused the barbershop owner to continue to beat him down for breaking his window, and then chased the other one for a half-mile before I caught him and beat him senseless right in the middle of the hood. Wasn’t the first time, nor the last run in I’ve had with their ilk. So glad I’m college and grad school are long behind me, have a great job, and never have to live in a place like that again.

Actually, people at that time were getting pretty fed up with the status quo of street crime. The cops actually seemed kind of supportive of him defending himself.
It wasn’t until AFTER he went on his crusade to tell the world just how bad the NYPD sucked that he was charged and prosecuted.
And, of course, the lengths the prosecutors stretched credibility to get him just paved the way for our current crop of “activists” to sound believable.
