On the afternoon of Feb. 25, a Wednesday, Gabby Schilling received a long-awaited piece of mail: her acceptance letter to Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. She was also informed that shed be pitching for the schools softball team. Her dad, retired baseball great Curt Schilling, was elated. He wasnt at the family home in Medfield, Mass., when Gabby got the news, but at 2:53 p.m., -snip-
Schilling has 121,000 followers on Twitter. Within hours, he says, he started seeing some crass responses.snip
Schilling thought about what to do. Five years ago, I wouldve gotten in the car and beaten them up, he says. But I also have three sons, and I have to teach them that theres a right way and a wrong way. So after I decided I wasnt going to try to hurt them, I decided to find out who they were. It was easier than anyone might think: Schilling, 48, began Googling their Twitter handles, their online friends, tracking down their Facebook and Instagram pages, following all the little cyber bread crumbs we unknowingly leave behind each day.

As a Yankee fan, I hate Curt Schilling
But what he did for his daughter was outstanding.
His daughter is an extremely beautiful girl, and I have no sympathy for anyone who gets that crude in insulting a woman. I’m far more impressed with his parenting than with his baseball.
Excellent!!!!
I’m glad Schilling made public examples of these dirtbags, and that they got consequences. Especially the loser who got fired. What he “tweeted” shows the cesspool that’s really in his soul. The only difference between him and guys who are in prison is that he hides behind a twitter handle and doesn’t act out his sick perverted fantasies.
I glad he was fired. I wouldn’t want someone like that working for me.
The title should be "Schilling: Everyone Women should fight back against online harassment"
Can I get the "Hah haaah" pic from the Simpsons? Sucks to be you, scumbags. BTW, good luck ever getting a date or a real job again. LOL.
No doubt he's crying about how unfair it all is.
Whether public shaming is a healthier response, or a more just one, is something we as a society are still unsure of as are the experts.”
Unsure?
Experts?
Shunning has Always Worked!
Until I heard about this I had no clue who Shilling was. But I have to say he did good by his daughter. Everyone should fight back against on-line harassment.
Both fired.
Right on, Curt.
People shouldn’t assume that they can post truly hateful, disgusting, offensive personal comments on various forums with anonymity. Unless you go out of your way to block your identity, you can be found. I feel zero sympathy for people who get publicly shamed for things that they should be ashamed of saying.
He didn’t need to go to all of that trouble! He could have just checked the democrat voting rolls!
Curt Schilling is forever a world-class hero to Sox fans.
Without being specific, there are a great many who would love to do more to these *holes than merely ‘outing’ them.
I think that Shilling had a point.... There is nothing like a live example of people being publicly called out and shamed to stop others from thinking about behaving as badly. Once it’s on the net, it’s out there forever. I like the idea that people got fired over this.
Schilling did the right thing. Good for him for standing up for his daughter.
