It would have been great if Romney had been prepared for the underhanded attack by Crowley based on information provided by the Zero team without enough time for her to take a step back and consider how she was being used (not that she would have done anything different). It’s relatively easy to Monday Morning quarterback the situation - this particular teaming up of the journalist with the socialist wasn’t expected to be so blatant and threw him.
I think everyone learned a lesson from the experience - too late to digest and respond in that case.
“”this particular teaming up of the journalist with the socialist wasnt expected to be so blatant and threw him.””
This is not hard to believe. How many of us have thought of what we SHOULD have done after the chance has passed? Whether it’s an action or a remark - when we’re too stunned by circumstances to react meaningfully is a natural reaction IMO. We’re all sorry it happened and it shouldn’t have but we cannot fault Romney behaving as any of us would have.
