AKRON, N.Y. (WIVB) The raging debate over the use of the Redskins mascot has taken a dramatic turn Friday. As the Lancaster School District continues heated discussions about whether the Redskin name should be replaced, the Akron Varsity Lacrosse team has cancelled its game with Lancaster, which had been scheduled for March 31st.
The Akron Tigers were Section 6, Class C champions last year. A majority of the teams members are Native American. The Akron Central School District has decided to take a stand against the name Redskins, by cancelling its non-league game with Lancaster.
Akron School Superintendent Kevin Shanley said, Its an offensive term to the Native American population and, its disparaging to that community.
Shanley said lacrosse players have been supportive of the decision. The Tigers hope to fill that non-league contest with a team from another school.
Maybe someone should sue the Akron team on behalf of all the tigers in the world. After all, it’s demeaning for humans to disparage those noble animals by using their name in such an insulting way.
Sure they are. Just like Elizabeth Warren and Ward Churchill.

Fine, they can just play with themselves instead.
Forfeit, the sun will still come up in the morning.
LOL. Perhaps your school should offer reparations to the closest living relatives of the dinosaurs, the birds. But wait...some folks think that crocodiles are the closest relatives, so you'd better send them money too.
