Another choice would be to get a good RCR reading and then land on speed at a proper touchdown point.

If not on speed and touchdown will be long, go around. (period)

The two planes before him reported good braking. Gotta figure that was, at worst, 4 minutes before the incident.

The only place I know of where weather changes fast enough to beat 4 minutes is Alaska.
